Jarrett used to sing to his children in Dutch and when World War I ended he shot his blunderbuss shotgun as a way to celebrate.

The children of Jarrett Nathaniel Baars and Sarah Ellen Cude were: Martha Caroline, George Albert and Oscar Jessie. In the 1880 census records Jarrett and Martha are shown living with “George and Hellena.”

In the 1900 census report for Perry County, Tennessee Jarrett Nathaniel Baars was a farmer and Dora Sharp O’Guin was a washwoman. Both were shown as single and the heads of their respective households. In this same report Jarrett’s birth date is shown as September 1851 and Dora’s is shown as March 1876. He was the widower of Sarah Ellen Cude and Dora was the widow of D. Allen O’Guin. Jarrett and Dora married on 25.1.1903. They each brought children to this marriage. Jarrett’s children were Martha Caroline, George Albert and Oscar Jessie. Dora’s children were Verda, Fount and Oda. Jarrett and Dora’s children were: Velera Pearl (13.1.1905 – 25.9.1997), Sue Elizabeth (1907 – 1987), Nathaniel died an infant between 1907 and 1910, Mollie (5.5.1910 – 12.5.1910), Willie Nathaniel (10.7.1912 – 7.1.1977) and Lena I. (26.1.1915 – 13.5.1993).
