Gertrude Lenada Baars was born 13.9.1941 in Wheelwright, Kentucky. She went to grade school in Pikeville, Kentucky up to the sixth grade when her family moved to Ohio. After finishing school, Lenada got a job working for the State of Ohio where she continued to work for about the next twenty-five years. Twenty of those years were spent working in the Attorney General’s office. During her very busy career, she managed to find the time to marry Harold Leslie Backus, Jr. They were married on 16.12.1972. However, Harold passed away on 16.10.2005 just two months shy of what would have been their thirty-third wedding anniversary.
